I love to stockpile also! There are certain foods that we tend to eat a lot of. These go on sale every 3-4 months. So we have figured out about how many to buy to last that long and store it in the pantry or freezer, depending on what it is. Also we like the 10 for 10 and one free sales.

I've been making my own taco mix, using the TWG's recipe, for years. Real money saver, I know what's in it, no funky ingredients and mine is salt free, something I am sensitive to.

Newspaper is one of my favorite things to use for wrapping. The weight of it makes it easy to work with and the colors are neutral so one can add all kinds of embellishments to make the package look divine. At Christmas time one can use fresh greenery as accents, also pinecones, acorns, colored twine, paper ribbon(search internet and craft books for methods) Thrift shops are a great source for package toppers also, tear apart wreaths, look for small bags of ephemera. I'm very fond of getting silk flowers to use as decorations and they are available at most thrift stores.

I keep left over chicken (cut into bite sized pieces) and left over vegetables to make individual chicken pot pies.
Just mix with cream of chicken soup, add a refrigerator biscuit on top, bake, and you have easy and delicious pot pies.

I keep bits of leftover mashed potatoes in a meal sized container in the fridge, like I do the assorted bits of leftover veggies (as you do, using these for stews, soups, casseroles). Once this tub is filled with mashed potatoes, I know that I have enough for a Sheppard's pie. One step (preparing the potatoes) is done already so it goes much faster.
